From the very beginning, blood has been important to God. He slew an animal to sufficiently cover Adam as the covering that Adam made for himself was insufficient. The Passover Lamb was to be slain and the blood of the lamb was to be placed on the doorposts of the children of Israel. When the Destroyer saw the blood on the doors, God promised that he would “pass over” that house and spare it from the destruction. On the Cross, Jesus shed his blood and covered all His people sufficiently, and in reality saved His people from the Destroyer at final judgment. His blood purchased His church, atoned for our sins and made peace with God on our behalf. How many other things did the Blood of Christ do for us?
