It was God’s purpose that He speak with the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai so that they would know who it was that delivered them from the bondage of Egypt. They heard the thunder, saw the lightning, and felt the quaking of the mount and knew that they were in the presence of Almighty God for the purpose of serving Him in reverence and Godly fear.
