New Antioch Primitive Baptist Church – Established August 24th, 1870
Articles of Faith
1. We believe in one only true and living God; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, and that these three are one.
( Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5; John 17:3; 1 John 5:7 )
2. We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the word of God of divine authority and the only rule of faith and practice.
( 2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:14 ; 2 Peter 1:20 )
3. We believe in the fall of man and all the posterity of Adam fell in him and are sinners by nature and have neither will or power to deliver themselves from that condemned and sinful state by the ability which they possess by nature.
( Romans 3:9-10, 5:12; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Ephesians 2:1; John 6:44 )
4. We believe in the doctrine of election by grace and that the elect were chosen in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the world.
( Ephesians 1:4; 2:10; 2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Peter 1:2; John 15:16 )
5. We believe that salvation, regeneration, sanctification, and justification are by the life, death, resurrection, ascension, and intercession of Jesus Christ and that His children are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.
(Colossians 2:10-15; Romans 5:8-11, 1 Peter 1:3-5)
6. We believe that good works are the fruits of the faith of God’s elect and follow after they are born of the Spirit of God and only justify them declaratively.
(Romans 4:1-2, James 2:18; Galatians 6:22-25, Ephesians 2:10; Titus 3:8)
7. We believe that baptism by immersion is an ordinance of the gospel and experimental believers are the only proper subjects.
( John 13:4-17, 3:23; Matthew 3:15-17, 28:19-20, 26:26-27; Luke 22:19; Acts 2:41, 8:36-37, 10:47, 13:38 )
8. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of Jesus Christ and ought to be continued in His church until He comes again.
( John 13:4-17, 3:23; Matthew 3:15-17, 28:19-20, 26:26-27; Luke 22:19; Acts 2:41- 42, 8:36-37, 10:47, 13:38; 1 Corinthians 10:21, 11:29 )
9. We believe that none have a right to administer Baptism or the Lord’s supper but those who are clothed with the authority of the church.
( Acts 13:2-3, 14:2-3; John 15:16; Titus 1:5 )
10. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust but everyone in his own order, and that the bodies of men that die and are laid in the graves or elsewhere will not be annihilated but will be resurrected from the grave. The righteous to life eternal and fashioned like the glorious in the nature and image of Christ, but the bodies of the wicked to condemnation.
( Acts 24:15, 17:31; John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:32, 34, 41, 46 )
11. We also believe there will be a general judgment and that the joys of the righteous will be eternal and the punishment of the wicked everlasting.
( Acts 24:15, 17:31; John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:32, 34, 41, 46 )
12. We believe that the government of the church is not to be invested in the hands of any man or set of men distinct from the body but is to be conducted solely by the church itself.
(Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22; 1 Peter 2: 4-9)
