To understand anything we read, we need to understand language and how words comprise a complete thought. Many people think that the Bible is hard to understand, and it is difficult at times to interpret the meaning, but overall it is simple. Our doctrine, or teaching, should not dictate to us what the Bible says. The Bible should dictate to us our doctrine. We should go to God’s word to learn what God says about any subject, not take our beliefs to the Bible and twist it to fit our own thoughts on any subject.
